I’m a total sucker for artsy photo-related gifts. Develop something unique that shows off a personal photo or three, and I’m likely to buy it. For Valentine’s Day. For birthdays. For Mother’s Day. For anniversaries. For unexpected run-ins with long-lost cousins.
So you can only imagine how much I love today’s find: the mosaic frame from Moo.
If you’re not familiar with Moo, they print beautiful custom business cards, mini cards (a fraction the size of a business card), and post cards, among other things. You can upload dozens of different photos or other images, so that each card is different.
Which brings us to the mosaic frame: It holds 20 of Moo’s mini cards, which is to say, 20 of your photos in bite-size glory (about 1 x 2.75 inches), arranged any way you like. Talk about a fun, creative way to showcase a lot of photos in a fairly small space.
Intrigued? Check out this video about the mosaic frame:
(Take note: The video is actually of an older version of the mosaic frame, so it doesn’t show the new design’s biggest perk—tabs that hold the mini cards in their mini frames for easier positioning.)
I’ve wanted to buy a few mosaic frames since I discovered them a few months ago, but I kept putting it off. Not only did I want to wait until I had some new photos to use from the holidays and my wedding; I didn’t want to pay $18.25 to ship one mosaic frame.
Now it seems the stars have aligned. I’ve got wedding photos galore, and Moo is offering free shipping on all purchases of $39 and up through January 31 (discount code: 8AMX4Z). That means the mosaic frame — at $39.99, plus $19.99 for a set of 100 mini cards — will ship free.
I’m actually planning to stock up and buy multiple mosaic frames. (I rarely plan this well when buying gifts. Usually, I buy one and then decide I want another one — or three — and have to whip out my Visa card again.) Since each frame holds 20 mini cards and mini cards are sold in sets of 100, I figure I should put have a use in mind for as many of these mini cards as possible.
As for those that don’t make it into one of the mosaic frames, I’ll be using them as gift cards.
p.s. If you love the idea of Moo business cards but aren’t ready to commit yet, they’re offering a free set of 10 business cards, complete with free shipping. And yes, there’s an eco-friendly option. Get the skinny here.
